Noureddine Morceli: Olympics

MORCELI WINS OLYMPIC GOLD!



Four years after his dismal seventh place finish in Barcelona, Morceli came back to the Olympics in Atlanta intent on winning the gold medal in the 1500m. Despite the fact the he holds the world record in the event and has one 3 World Championship titles, he would have to overcome a resurgent Fermin Cacho (the 1992 Champ), three top Kenyans, and the newest star in the miling world: Morocco's Hicham El Guerroudj, who became the third fastest 1500m runner ever with his 3:29.59 a few weeks earlier.
