CSC 212/412, Fall 2011

(Monday and Wednesday, 3:25-4:40pm, CSB 209)

Grading

All students will have the following components for their grades:

Projects30%
Tinyizzes15%
Midterm20%
Final Project35%

The contribution to the final grade for students taking 412 will be adjusted so that 15% of their grade comes from reading reports and presentations - more information about reading reports.

Contrary to popular belief, the university has no set grading scale – I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to decide if you'd actually want one! Nevertheless, it can be useful to have some idea of a grading scale so you can guage your progress. The following is the worst-case grading scale – this is the worst you can do for a given percentage. We reserve the right to curve your grade up in the case that it seems warranted, but make no guarantees.

A+99-100
A94-98
A-92-93
B+89-91
B84-88
B-81-83
C+78-80
C73-77
C-70-72
D60-69
E<60

Your grades will be posted on Blackboard in a timely manner so you can follow along.

Academic Honesty

If you cheat, you fail the course.

You are allowed to discuss assignments with your classmates, but nothing written (on paper, in electronic format, on whiteboards, etc) should exist after these discussions. That also means that you cannot complete the assignments "together." You are not allowed to post any class material online. Furthermore, you are required to include with your submissions a list of anyone with whom you may have discussed the assignment. This applies to teams as well -- you may exchange whatever you want between team members, but any discussions across teams must be listed.
